Five home improvement projects you can do in one day
Helping to make your new home perfect for you.
When buying a new home it can be difficult to find one that is perfect for you.
Often times, the colors and fixtures are not your style, and that’s ok. Because of that reason, we have come up with a few home improvement projects you can do in one day that’ll make your new home perfect for you.
Looking for a New Home?
1. Change the hardware.
Some homes are still stuck in the 80’s. If you are into that, then by all means, keep it. If you want to modernize your home, a simple hardware change could make the room look better. Change out handles in your kitchen and bathroom. Get rid of all the shell handles and replace with stainless steel to give it a sleek and modern look, or go with crystal/glass handles for a classy and elegant look. You can also change the covers on all the outlets in your home or simply put a fresh coat of paint on your old ones.
2. Give it a good cleaning.
Complete a deep cleaning to the carpets, scrub the walls, and/or bleach the bathrooms. You could also do a good power wash to the outside walls of the home. That will really brighten up the exterior. It’ll make the paint look fresh and new. You can also throw a fresh coat of paint on the front door, add some new flowers so the garden bed, trim the sidewalk and pull weeds.
3. Upgrade the lighting.
If you are working with something like this (photo at right), you may want to consider changing it up. Changing the light fixtures around your home is a quick and easy fix to make your home cleaner and much more modern looking. A nice chandelier over the dining room table or install some recessed lighting in the living room can make any home brighter.
4. Freshen up the paint.
It could be touching up the paint on the front door, re-painting dinged up furniture, or adding a nice accent wall to some of your room, repainting always makes a room look fresher and gives it a cleaner look. There is a new trend going around where the new accent wall is the ceiling. If you want to mix it up a bit and try something new, try painting your ceiling a vibrant color.

5. Fix up the lawn.
Nothing makes a house look more beat up than a brown and unkempt yard. If your yard is beginning to become patchy and more dirt than grass, add some seed and get it growing again. Adding new flowers to the flower bed and making sure that all the bushes and hedges are trimmed and maintain will really give your home a facelift. If you really want to get creative, when you edge your flower bed or walk way, line it with rope light. This will help with visibility at night. You can even put it on a timer so you don’t have to worry about wasting energy.
