‘Tis The Season To Be Cozy

As the weather turns colder, we all find ourselves longing for coziness. Be it from that warm, special drink from your favorite coffee shop or wrapping yourself in a soft robe after a warm shower, you get an immediate sensation of warmth and comfort. And then you walk out into your living room and SLAP, harsh lighting hits you in the face and the white walls only seem to make the room feel more like an igloo, than a place of respite from the howling wind outside. Before you have to face such a scenario, take a few minutes to read your 4 step plan to a cozy wonderland, to keep you warm, inside and out, this winter.

1. Rugs

Choosing a soft rug with a texture that makes you want to touch it, is a fantastic way to add comfort and warmth to a room. They not only make you feel warm as you look at and walk across them, instead of the cold, bare floor, but rugs also hold in heat, so they also truly warm your home.

2. Lighting

Lighting is a vital part of creating ambiance in a space. Avoiding fluorescent lights and going for warm tone lightbulbs, is a great start in the “cozification” process. Additionally, opting for floor and table lamps that have dimmers, will allow you further control over the lighting & overall warm feeling of your home. Another incredibly simple way to create this ambiance, is to place candles throughout the house. From tealights to even battery operated ones, such as these Luminara candles, a candle will bring a sense of comfort, peace and warmth to your heart and home.

3. Create A Nook

Designating one chair as your ‘quiet chair,’ complete with soft lamp light nearby, a foot rest and your favorite books or crochet basket, can take any room and give it that instant cozy boost, for which you are searching. Having a place to go and relax from the cares of the day, will warm your heart this winter and will keep you feeling pampered all year long.

4. Layering

One of the quickest ways to make a space warm and inviting is by layering furniture with blankets and pillows. For example, layering a bed or couch with a comforter and soft cotton blanket on top so you have options for warmth, and then adding pillows of various shapes and sizes to accommodate different activities, like reading and napping, are a few sure fire ways to bring a warm and welcoming ambiance to your home.

We hope you are as excited as we are to implement these simple steps and make our houses as cozy as our Pumpkin Spice Latte’s.
